Our Story

Our Origins

Nestled at the foothills of the White Mountains and overlooking the crystalline waters of Kournas Lake and the Cretan Sea, the Vardis Olive Garden has been lovingly cultivated by the Vardis family since 1905.  Nonos Olive Oil continues this century‑old legacy, carrying forward the tradition and passion for excellence. Our brand is steeped in the heritage of Minoan Crete, where olive oil was once revered for medicinal, ritual, and culinary use. We honor that legacy with every bottle of Nonos Olive Oil.

The Grove

The estate spans over 100,000 m² of lush groves planted mainly with Koroneiki trees-renowned for their fruity and delicate flavor. Set at an altitude of 120 m in lime-rich soils, nurtured by the island’s pure waters and Mediterranean climate, our olives thrive in pristine, organic conditions.

Harvest & Production

Each olive is hand-picked and cold-pressed within 24 hours of harvest in a certified mill, ensuring the preservation of its natural aroma and nutritional benefits. The olive oil is then naturally decanted in stainless steel tanks for two months before being bottled in our bottles, a blend of tradition and minimal modernity. Nonos Olive Oil delivers a delicate, fruity aroma with vibrant golden-green hues. Ideal for drizzling over salads, grilled seafood, or freshly baked bread, it adds depth without overpowering the dish.
